The Sports Club are running drop-in training sessions for Minis and Juniors on Tuesday evenings starting 3rd June. Years 4,5 & 6 from 4.30pm to 5.30pm; years 7, 8 & 9 from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Each session is just £1 - click here for more information

MINI HOCKEY FUNDAY

It is with regret that we have to cancel the planned 'fun day' this Sunday 27th April, as unfortunately there has been a double booking by the Sports Club, and there are no pitches available for our use.

We will keep you posted with any further info regarding the minis, and details will be published giving training dates for the 2008/9 season in due course.

Thank you for all your support this season, and our apologies again for Sunday. The 'goodie bags' will be saved for another time!

MINI HOCKEY FUN - SUNDAY 27TH APRIL

We are marking the final mini training session of the 2007/8 season with a fun session for all mini hockey players.

Starting at 10.30am and finishing at 12pm, the session will include fun skills and games.

All participants will receive a 'goodie bag'.

Please come along, whether you normally train on a Wednesday or Sunday - we look forward to seeing you there.

With teams coming from Purley and Horsham - it will be a brilliant session full of fun matches. A chance to learn more about the game and a superb opportunity to see if you want to be a goalie, a forward or a defender.

Teams will be 7 a-side U11 Girls, U11 Boys and U9 Mixed. An email has been sent out to all registered players. If you wish to play and haven’t received an email please contact Wendy Masters asap. wendyjmasters@aol.com

There will be a special prize for the most inventive headgear.

More details will be available nearer to the first date, but we hope that your son or daughter will want to take part. We will also need help with transport for our away festivals.

These festivals give the younger players a taster of playing in a match situation, although the emphasis is very much on having fun!

MINI HOCKEY TRAINING 2007/08

This year we are running two sessions a week for the minis:-

Wednesday 5.30 – 7pm for 8-16yr olds starts 12^th September

Sunday 10.30 - 11.30am for 6-11yr olds starts 16th September

The 2007 training sessions will run each week as follows:

WEDNESDAY - 12^th September to 17^th October

No training on 24^th October

31^st October to 12^th December

SUNDAY - 16^th September to 14^th October

No training on 21^st and 28^th October

4^th November to 16^th December

Dates for 2008 will be published nearer the time.

New Mini Hockey membership forms will shortly be available to download from this section, or they can be picked up in the Sports Club Reception.

The total cost for the year is £40 per child. There may be a small additional fee to pay if they play in a match.

First time attendees may attend their first session free of charge, in order to give it a try. Thereafter it is essential that you complete a membership form (and pay the subscription fee), as we must have contact and medical details. You can download a membership form here

It is very important that your child registers on arrival at the pitch, and that you, as a parent or guardian collects your child afterwards pitch side.

We look forward to giving your children a taste of hockey and developing their skills, whilst you can watch or enjoy a coffee and a read of the newspapers in the clubhouse!

Mini Festival - Sunday 10th December

East Grinstead hosted this festival which included teams from Purley Walcountians, Horsham and Old Mid Whitgiftians.

The ages of the children ranged from 6 – 11 years, some playing in their first ever ‘match’! Five teams competed at U9 mixed level and seven teams played as U11 Boys and U11 Girls.

The event nearly didn’t take place as the pitches were frozen solid at 9am. However after an hour’s delay, the sun started to defrost the pitch and we were able to start, and although delayed with the schedule, we were able to catch up a little, as the morning progressed.

There were some great moments – with teams playing in a fantastic spirit, enjoyment and fun being the aim of the day.

The children finished tired but happy at 12pm. There was then a small presentation for the winners.
