U18 Boys 6 - 0 Ashford

Mercian League Quarter-Finals

Having qualified for the Mercian National Quarter Finals by winning the South East Divisional title, East Grinstead Under 18's welcomed Ashford from Middlesex to Saint Hill.  Ashford secured their quarter final spot with a 3rd place finish in the South West Division with wins against Maidenhead and more notably, Reading.

With a finals day place at stake East Grinstead started quietly but finally settled any match nerves when Mike Shelton opened the scoring lobbing the Ashford Keeper after great approach play from EG's midfield.  A second goal followed when George Torry netted from close distance before Mike Shelton doubled his tally with a well taken penalty stroke.

The second half saw James Allington open his account finishing neatly in the bottom left corner off a fantastic pass from Seb Martin.  Alex Watson made it 5 before James Allington finished off the goal of the day the ball being moved from defence through midfield to the forward where a neat deflection made it 6.

Waiting for East Grinstead in the semi-final are Old Loughtonians, with the winners facing Canterbury or  Southgate in the Final, all games to be played at Woking HC on Sunday 4th May.
