EG U13 Girls:  Ron Easton 7-a-side tournament at Eastbourne

Despite the weather and finishing extremely cold and wet the girls had a very satisfactory afternoon.  Seven teams were entered and we all were due to play a round robin tournament.

We started very strongly against Lewes winning comfortably 3-0 but knew we faced the tournament favourites Eastbourne in the second game. Eastbourne started very strongly with a fierce early strike but we continued to battle hard with some attacking play including hitting the post. 

Laura made some impressive saves but Eastbourne were too strong, the final score was 0-3 to them.  Our aim now was to not be beaten again and we saw this through with some impressive wins against Horsham (3-0), Burgess Hill (4-0) and Mid Sussex (3-0), before the tournament was halted by the atrocious weather.

All the girls played well with Ellie and Alice growing in confidence as the afternoon progressed but special mention must go to Laura who kept her concentration throughout in goal in the freezing conditions.  Also thanks to Linda for coming down and supporting us.
