EG U16 Boys 9 - 0 Sanderstead U16s Mercian Home Counties Colts League South East
The EG side was slightly changed from the previous week, but proved to be of equal strength. With two new faces in the side - Oli Stubbings (GK) and Jake Brassett - the home team started the match in a less than confident manner.
However, having conceding a short corner less than five minutes into the match, the boys began to settle down. Sanderstead were still pushing forward and our defence had some work to do. Soon it was the home side’s turn to attack, and 15 minutes into the first half, Keith Turner scored a great goal from a great individual effort and five minutes later scored his second from a penalty corner.
With a half time score of 2-0, EG still had a lot to offer, and with a good team talk went in to the second half more determined. James Mott – normally a defender - came on as a sub at CF and proceeded to score off a reverse sweep within 5 minutes of the restart and a barrage of goals then continued until the final whistle went just as EG were awarded a penalty corner. Again, Keith put it away with style. Another good result for the U16’s and they play again next Sunday – home against Tunbridge Wells at 1.30.
Squad: Richard Thorne, Jonathan Lui, Oli Stubbings (GK), Matt Needle (capt), Alex Gowen, Chris Offler, Roshan Patel, Keith Turner, Jake Brassett, Zak Taylor, Tom Lawson, James Mott. Scorers: Keith Turner 3, James Mott 2, Richard Thorne 2, Jonathan Lui, Jake Brassett.
