East Grinstead were able to field a strong squad of 15 girls on what was a lovely afternoon.

Everyone benefitted from meeting early for a training session as we rarely get the opportunity to get together as a team.  We are very lucky that Helen Prinsloo (East Grinstead Ladies player of the year 2006-07) has agreed to take on the role of team coach and she made a winning start.

East Grinstead started strongly with many attacking moves. Gina opened the scoring with a beautifully timed tap in from a great cross from Claudia who was making her debut.  Claudia then followed up with a nicely timed run and shot.

We had a new recruit in goal Laura who had a very quiet first half and was well protected by a strong defence.  Olivia began as sweeper but ended up pushing forward creating good interplay with the midfield allowing regular attacking moves down the wing with good passing between Gina and Emily.  Keira another making her debut stepped into the role of sweeper. 

With a half time lead of 2 goals everyone was smiling.  Again we started the second half strongly and two early goals from Tabitha made the game secure.  However East Grinstead sat back a little opening the door for Oxted who scored two quick goals despite some courageous saves from Laura.  A good performance from everyone.

Our next fixture is away vs Teddington on Dec 9^th which could be a tough game.
