MINI HOCKEY FUNDAY

It is with regret that we have to cancel the planned 'fun day' this Sunday 27th April, as unfortunately there has been a double booking by the Sports Club, and there are no pitches available for our use.

We will keep you posted with any further info regarding the minis, and details will be published giving training dates for the 2008/9 season in due course.

Thank you for all your support this season, and our apologies again for Sunday.  The 'goodie bags' will be saved for another time!

SPORT RELIEF

As the Junior Section of the Hockey Club, we are organising a ‘sport relief mile’ of our own.

Sunday 16th March will see many activities taking place at the East Grinstead Sports Club, but none so original as our own ‘HOCKEY RELAY’.  This will take the form of dribbling the ball in teams across the width of the hockey pitch – 30 ‘crossings’ to complete one mile.  Now that’s got to be easier than running it!!

Please come and support this event, which will take place on Sunday 16th March starting at 10am.  We would like as many of you - juniors and minis taking part.  Arrive in teams of four, or we will organise you into a team on the day. There will be prizes for the fastest teams in different age groups.

It’s all in a very good cause for Sport Relief, and all we ask is that you make a donation of whatever you can afford.

JUST TURN UP ON THE DAY – TRAINING WILL FOLLOW AS USUAL.

If...... Mums, Dads or senior players - you are able to help with counting ‘crossings’ or ‘timing miles’, please let me know – the more the merrier!

Refreshments and food will be available throughout the morning.

Any questions, please contact me.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome to East Grinstead Junior Hockey

We start yet another busy hockey season with some excellent news.
Membership fees have been reduced to £40 per year – this is for all boys and girls between 11 and 18 yrs.
For £40, you get:
... All published training
... Match fees and teas for Sunday matches
... Membership to East Grinstead Sports Club (where you can get 10% discount at the bar and a host of other incentives)

In addition, if you want to play Ladies, Men’s or Badgers on Saturday, there is an inclusive fee of £140. Girls have the option of paying an occasional Saturday sub of £6 for Ladies games.

Membership forms are available for download here. It is really important that these are completed before you play in a match for East Grinstead. Please return to your manager or post in the NEW post box outside Reception.

Scheduled matches for each age group can be found on this site by going to Contacts and clicking to the right of the age group manager.

TRAINING SCHEDULE

You have plenty of opportunities to train – see schedule above. If your manager organises additional training/matches, you may be asked for a nominal amount to cover pitch hire.

TEE SHIRTS are now for sale at training sessions priced £6. We hope to add some more kit shortly.

SWS Foundation needs your help

Hugo is 17 and from Rouen and plays for their 1st hockey team. He is looking to come over here for up to a year, to improve his English, play hockey and get a student job. He would like to arrive as soon as possible. I have found him language lessons in EG.

Can you help?

If you live close to the club and you have a room to spare, are maybe in need of an Au Pair or know of student employment, then please contact me, Wendy Masters - 01825 732586.   Thank-you

Note to all Juniors

If you have made a county/regional squad could you let me know please.  Charles Arthur wants to put a piece in the local papers about you, so could you let him know also, and send him a photo of yourself - if you are at county training and there is more than one of you at EG, any chance of a 'group'!! Click here to email Charles.

Lastly, if you know of anyone who is keen to join EG, let them know about Saturday or get them to contact me - we especially need an U14 goalkeeper.

And parents, the U16 boys require some volunteers to ring round/email boys for the Mercian matches.  Jane (Rupert Ashdown's mum) has said that she doesn't mind doing the odd one. Are there one or two more who would do the same?
